MG Marketing NeoCon 2020 Cancelled

Week in The Life of a Marketing Agency

A week in the life of an entrepreneur and marketing agency owner. There’s no NeoCon in 2020 so instead we are innovating with digital marketing. Here’s the Highlights: Back to the office, digital innovation replaces the NeoCon tradeshow, and photoshoot prep. Here we go…..

Our physical office re-opened this week after an almost three month closure due to COVID-19. This pandemic has affected virtually everyone across the globe in some way. First and foremost, the loss of life is tragic and saddens all of us. Over 400,000 lives lost and counting. I’m very thankful for the healthcare workers and frontline personnel who bravely continued to execute their jobs, even while facing uncertainty, danger and long hours.

Hundreds of thousands of business have either closed or been forced to re-invent. Layoffs have hurt families and small businesses. Even though our business is digital and was largely unaffected other than where we physically work, I would be lying if I said I didn’t lose some sleep over the pandemic and how it would affect our employees, their families, and ultimately our livelihood. I’m super proud of our team for trucking through it with professionalism. As Americans go back to the physical office, we are stronger, more innovative, and more resourceful as a culture. From kids turning to homeschool, to baby boomers working from home for the first time, we’re figuring it out as a nation – all part of the “lemonade from lemons” process.

Then there’s NeoCon. Normally most of our team would have been in Chicago this week, working closely with several clients in the contract furniture manufacturing industry, celebrating their largest tradeshow of the year. NeoCon had run for over 50 years continuously, and so this was a big curveball for the industry. While there’s no physical event this year, many manufacturers are pivoting and reinvesting digitally, hosting online events, training sessions, and even virtual happy hours! I’ve written previously how NeoCon has become stale in recent years and needed to re-invent. The silver lining is an opportunity for NeoCon to figure it out and be back stronger next year. We love the camaraderie of gathering together to see all that’s new in the furniture industry, and can’t wait to get back to Chicago in 2021!

Until then, the show must go on….One of our best clients didn’t miss a beat during the shutdown and is preparing to launch a new line of mobile whiteboards. We have a prototype arriving this week, and I’m excited to get back in our photo studio and capture some great product images with the team. I’m also back in Big D with clients this week, collaborating to develop creative campaigns and digital marketing that moves the needle.

The week won’t end Friday. This weekend we’re launching an all new website for a client that’s doubling down on their digital platform. They realize their website is more important than ever as business continues to shift online, and we’re honored to help them update and upgrade. Will share more after it launches, but for now be sure to check out our favorite work in the gallery. Sleep Sunday, then repeat Monday! Wouldn’t trade this for anything.  #TheMarketingGrind
